About This Exam

The DSSSB LDC Hindi Typing Test is a computer-based skill test for posts like LDC, Junior Assistant and DASS Grade IV under the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB). It is a qualifying test where candidates must type a printed Hindi passage within the given time.

Candidates must achieve a minimum speed of 30 WPM in Hindi on computer. If you do not pass this test, you will not be eligible for document verification or final selection, even if your written exam score is good.

Typing Test Pattern

Duration: 10 minutes for normal candidates, 15 minutes for PwD candidates

Type: Printed passage (hard copy) is given and you type on computer (Notepad)

Passage Length: Around 2300–2500 keystrokes (approx. 400–500 words) in recent tests

Mode: QWERTY keyboard, Hindi language

Font: Kruti Dev (Remington GAIL) or Mangal (InScript) – whichever is mentioned in your notification

Backspace: Usually allowed during 10/15 minutes, but no changes after test ends

Mistakes counted: Wrongly typed words, extra/missing words, wrong punctuation, extra/missing spaces, wrong spelling, etc.

Speed Requirement

This speed is for LDC / Junior Assistant / DASS Grade IV. For Junior Personal Assistant / Senior Personal Assistant, speed is higher (35 WPM Hindi).

Result & Scoring

Nature: Qualifying (pass/fail)

Marks: No marks or weightage in final merit for LDC / Junior Assistant / DASS Grade IV posts

Fail: You cannot go to next stage (document verification or final selection)

Pass: You must achieve minimum speed (30 WPM) and keep mistakes within allowed limit (generally around 10% of total words, but check your specific notification)

Preparation Tips

Practice 10 minutes daily
Use free typing sites like aitypingguru.com, typingtestexam.com, TestMentor or TypingSathi. Set a 10-minute timer and type from printed Hindi passages.

Accuracy before speed
Start with 25 WPM with 95% accuracy. Once you are stable, increase to 30–32 WPM. Accuracy is more important because mistakes reduce net speed.

Use correct Hindi font
Choose the font mentioned in your notification (Kruti Dev or Mangal). Practice only on that font in exams and practice.

Type from printed sheet
Practice from a printed passage, not only from the screen. This matches the real DSSSB pattern where a hard copy is given in the exam.

Control your mistakes
If you make a mistake, correct it quickly. Too many mistakes reduce net WPM due to the 10-keystroke penalty rule.

Take 3 short tests daily
Take 3 tests of 5–10 minutes each. Check your WPM and mistake percentage after each test.

Time management and calm mind

First 7–8 minutes: Type carefully with good accuracy.

Last 2–3 minutes: Check and correct mistakes.
Stay calm; nervousness reduces speed.

Selection Process Note

The selection process for DSSSB LDC / Junior Assistant / DASS Grade IV posts generally follows this order:

Application → Written Examination (CT) → Typing Skill Test (English or Hindi) → Document Verification → Final Merit List

The Typing Skill Test is a qualifying test. It does not add marks to the final merit, but clearing it is mandatory for DV and final selection. If you fail the typing test, your higher written exam score will not help.
